When I was in Seattle for the Chic Photography Retreat, we did several photo sessions. If you missed the first photo session…click here.

This session, we concentrated on the seniors and they are so fun to work with! They bring it on and have an energy that they carry with them.

It is a time in their life that you are freezing a moment when a girl or guy is just becoming an adult.  They have one foot in childhood and one foot in adulthood.  It’s a wonderful time in their lives, full of hope and promise of things to come.

The seniors loved the props and some even wanted their furry friends along for the ride too.

As I was processing this last photo, I couldn’t help but think how cute this would be on her desk in her dorm room next year. It will be a great reminder of all the wonderful times the two of them had together.

Tip of the Day for Bloggers/Photographers:

Photographers…Keep the original photos!

Sounds pretty basic right?! Well, in the beginning I didn’t do this and to this day, I have lived to regret it.

When you process your photos, even just to crop them or change the resolution to web dpi…make a duplicate copy first. Don’t touch the original.

There will come a time when you will need to use it for a different project. So keep the high-resolution version of the image you posted.

You just never know what needs could come up that you would need the original. Maybe your next book project☺

What photo blunder have you done in the past that you have regretted and can’t recapture that memory again?

If this is your first or second time visiting here, we would love for you to join us. Fill out your email address down in the bottom footer and the inspirational tips will come right to your inbox.

Happy Shooting…

  6. Great black and whites, especially the umbrella photo.
Laurie, i would love it if you could give us tips on making a photo grids for our WordPress blog posts, like you often do. I have so much trouble trying to use “alignleft” etc.

  7. Hi Laurie! These are such gorgeous b/w portraits. Love the use of the umbrella, and that adorable puppy. Such cute subjects, too! Really like the tones you’ve used. I also clicked over to your other session … very beautiful!! Seniors are so fun to work with. I’m getting ready to do a session with a friend’s son who is graduating. I also had a session with his sister that I will be sharing soon … and boy, are you ever right on saving the original image!! When I first started I would edit a duplicate copy of it and delete the original! I still cringe when I think about it, but thankfully, I found out NOT to do this very soon after! So glad you shared that tip! Hope your holiday weekend is blessed! {Visiting from Tuesday Muse.}

  10. Gorgeous photos! I have definitely edited over the original and regretted it! Bummer! So I have learned my lesson. I am a novice with my camera, so mostly my blunders are before the editing process! Thanks so much for linking up to Photog Show and Tell!

  13. Lovely they are too .. none of them look awkward in these shots either Laurie , you must have put them at their ease .. and why doesn’t that surprise me 😉
    Top tip !

  14. Beautiful photos and great blogging tip. I keep a folder of raw images of my photos that I use on Green Door. And, I too, learned the hard way but now I always make sure that I have them — just in case! 🙂
