Independence Day, commonly known as the Fourth of July, is a federal holiday in the United States commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, declaring independence from the Kingdom of Great Britain.
You are viewing the Vietnam Veterans Memorial that was built recently in our town to represent the fallen heroes from Lee, Hendry, Charlotte, Collier, and Glades counties in southern Florida.
America is still the land of the free and the home of the brave. These men and women fought hard to keep America and the fight for freedom reigning.
Do you see the card sitting between the combat boots? I removed the card, sat down and took in what this wife wrote to her husband. As I read the letter, I had tears in my eyes, and couldn’t imagine such pain of losing one’s spouse. Finally, I lifted my head and saw Tarzan coming around the corner, and through the tears a smile finally formed. He says, “I see you found the card.” “Yes, I replied.” “Have I told you that I love you?” Tarzan smiles…
So on this precious weekend of celebration, I say to you…God Bless YOU!
