Heading To Portland, Oregon!…
Well, the time has come to begin another adventure!
We decided on Portland, OR. for our 20th Wedding Anniversary Celebration!
So many people asked us, “Why Portland, OR.?”
I would start by saying,”Remember where we live?”
“HOT…STEAMY…TEXAS!” It has been miserable since MAY!
We NEEDED a break from this heat!
I was giddy, I was going to be able to dress in layers, scarfs, boots, vest, hats…the list goes on!
We read, it was a must to take the Portland Aerial Tram up to the Oregon Health & Science Hospital.
The designers and engineers are from Switzerland! So, you can just imagine how beautiful the trams were built.
As many as 20,000 people a day visit the hospital’s main campus on Marquam Hill!
Traveling at 22 miles per hour, the Tram cabins rise 500 feet during the four-minute trip.
Each of the two cabins have a capacity of 79 people, including the operator.
You just marvel at the city’s views!
To witness God at work with his paint brush…SIGH!!!! This was a blessing.
Have you heard of the famous Salt & Straw in Portland? This is some of what I read…
“They’re lining up like rock-concert hopefuls for a taste of something that confounds expectations of what a scoop shop can be.”
-Karen Brooks, Portland Monthly Magazine
Do you see this line? It wrapped around the building!! Yes, my friends…for Ice Cream!
Okay, maybe looking a little guilty…(This didn’t quite fit on the diet itinerary…LOL) But, a girl has to do…what she has to do, right?!
So many flavors to choose from, such as Sea Salt with Caramel Ribbons, Coffee & Bourbon and Chocolate Gooey Brownie.
IT was worth the wait and more!
An hour east of Portland, is a town called Mt. Hood…it ended up being one of my favorite parts of the trip.
I didn’t want to leave!! The people, views, shopping, wineries and the list goes on…just incredible.
We were eating lunch here and this was our view out of the restaurant. Goodness!
Back in Portland the next day, we found this beauty…Laurelhurst Park. It was a local hangout.
Furry friends abounded here, with their owners.
Cheers! To having a terrific adventure on our 20th Wedding Anniversary Celebration!
BTW…the Pumpkin Cider was divine!
You can find this tasty drink and so many others at Imperial Bottle Shop and Taproom.
I will be posting more of our trip in the future. The photos above were shot with our iPhone camera.
Hoping fall treats you well…

Laurie, Oregon is breathtaking!
Happy 20th wedding anniversary, dear Laurie. You look fabulous, and so does your photography. I never say no to an ice cream cone anymore. Life’s too short.

Oregon is stunning…you lucky duck!
Beautiful shots and lovely colours!
So cool, and just up the road from me!! Happy anniversary!! Did you make it to Multnomah Falls?
YES, I adored Multnomah Falls!!!
One of my favorite cities as I lived there 4 years in college. A little of everything with the Rivers, Waterfalls, and Mountains. Skiing in the winter and only an hour to the beach in the summer. Glad you had a nice trip. My husband and I were married in this city too.
Thank you for sharing your time in Portland.
Happy Anniversary and your iPhone needs a dessert too because it performed amazingly. 🙂
Thank You Judy!
