I’ll Drink To That…
Well, I don’t have to tell most of you…this Grandma LOVES her grape!
On our Hill Country Adventure…we stopped at several wineries.
Our favorite by far, was Grape Creek Vineyards!
It took us back to our Sonoma memories of years past.
The facilities are beautiful and the grounds are breathtaking.
Their gift shop carried the most gorgeous items.
The image above was taken at Torre di Pietra Winery. It comes with an amusing story…
As we pulled into their property, I saw vineyards in front of the winery. (Most are in the back of the property)
So, I told Tarzan to pull over. I just HAD to get a shot of the grapes.
I go running over to them and start photographing.
All of a sudden, I feel severe pain down at my feet!
I look down, and there is FIRE ANTS all over me.
I start jumping up and down, stomping and yelling…maybe using some unkind words…smile.
In the background, I can hear Tarzan…laughing VERY LOUDLY, slapping his hands on his legs!
In the middle of this, I stop and look back at him and say, “Really! You are going to laugh as I am getting eaten alive?”
He says, “I couldn’t help it…you were hilarious!
I reply, “Tarzan, always comes to Jane’s rescue”
He says, “Tarzan will try to do better next time.”
We then traveled up north in Hill Country and found this gem, way out in the boon docks!
It is called, Texas Hill Country Olive Co., what a delight it was.
We tasted many different Olive Oils. Who knew there could be such a vast number of them?
The winner in our opinion, was the Terra Verde Lemon Infused Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
Of course, we had to bring a bottle home with us.
Afterwards, you proceed to their wine tasting…Aren’t new experiences delightful?
This is Flat Creek Estate in Marble Falls, Tx.
We thought we would never find this beauty!!
Literally, we drove for miles and miles in the country till we found this destination.
But, it was oh, so worth it.
The grounds were just fabulous! GORGEOUS…we could of stayed there all day and looked out at the hills.
Of course, with a Vino in our hand.
You might recall, that Texas has had their share of rain, floods and very bad weather!
Wouldn’t you know, this is when we were taking our road trip.
We enter Pedernales Falls State Park, and were warned immediately…
THAT IT WAS VERY DANGEROUS!
They had conservation officers EVERYWHERE to monitor the people coming in.
Here is what we saw! Flash floods of mud and water, just crashing powerfully down the falls.
IT was a site to behold.
Before we left, we hiked down as close as we could to get a shot of the water with Tarzan.
He might be a stinker, but he does make me smile.
We should not choke back, our laughter, because the tears stain our days. ~ George Butterick
Have a great day my friends.
What a beautiful place! Last September we toured wine country in CA, so lovely and so much fun! Cheers!

Wow, love the photos. We love visiting wineries, especially the Tuscan look! We drink lots of wine in our home. Very sweet names for each other. The fire ants sounds horrible. so glad to find you. I would like to invite you to share this lovely post at Dishing it & Digging it link party every Sunday 4:00 EST. It is live now.
Oh my gosh, those flash floods are scary!
That first photo, and accompanying story, is wonderful.
Vineyards are always such pretty places.
I can’t help but smile, Laurie, but only because i have had this happen also!
Ain’t no fun for sure, but gotta love Tarzan!!!! 🙂
What a beautiful place to be with a camera!
Have a wonderful holiday weekend.
Yes, he is a stinker alright! Have a great Fourth!!
Beautiful shots, Laurie! That dry Rose would taste great on a hot summer day 🙂
Bad, bad Tarzan to laugh at Jane! 😆 My hubby would have done the same. Guess that’s why they married us. We make them laugh as well. 😀
Stunning shots Laurie and I love grapes as well and don’t mind them when they come in a bottle now and then. 😉
ah, them husbands! How dare they laugh at our predicament? 🙂
I love to visit wineries and would love to have an olive oil tasting! You and Tarzan have great adventures, cheers Laurie!

Wineries are so much fun!
Wow, awesome shots, sounds like yourTarzan is a bit like mine….lol, I tell him all the time he has a warped sense of humor … Hope your ok? But I’m guessing you are:)
One great photo after another, it looks like you had an excellent adventure .. Except for your meet and greet with the F.A.
I do love the Hill country and looks like you and Tarzan had a wonderful trip with wonderful finds, both for the eyes as well as the palate.
Looks like a great road trip! Hope you healed well from those nasty fire ant bites.
Sounds and looks a nice trip! The waterfall looks fast and dangerous though.
We love HC wines, the bottles we got in Fredericksburg were good. We certainly have had lots of rain this year, the waterfall is great capture!
Thanks Amy!
Everything is great with you and fun. 😉
I love your sweet pet names for each other. I just might have to come up with my own. My hubby hates it when I call him Dumplin’! Something similar to Tarzan just might make him feel better!!! Lol. Great photos! We should share a glass of wine sometime!
That would be great to meet sometime.
Cheers!!!
The wineries look gorgeous, the waterfall so very dangerous! And those Fire Ants and totally vicious!!
I love the grape too but have given it up and lost 14 lbs – so I will just read and not indulge until winter break.
Congrats on the weight loss! This mama is cutting back too, after our vacation for the very same reason.
Good luck, it’s amazing just how much wine weighs – lol
Looks like some nice places to visit. The last set with the raging waters was great.
