Go Confidently In the Direction Of Your Dreams…
Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined.-Henry David Thoreau
If you’re not familiar with Thoreau, you can read more about him here. For a quick history, he was a writer/poet in the 1800s who lived his life exploring the philosophies of nature and life that enthralled him so much. He lived most of his life living a solitary life in the woods, surrounded by nature. Some considered him to be a hermit, but those reflecting on his life can see through his journals and other writings that he was a man who got more pleasure out of his life than most others. By staying on a path of exploration that he was passionate about and gathering his ideas and musings throughout his life in his writing, he did what most of us only wish.
He lived the life he wanted and created his own happiness by staying on the life path that he was drawn to. Amazing!
Tip of the day for bloggers/photographers:
Underplay the background using your aperture on your camera.
Choosing the widest aperture at the time of capture, in doing so lets the viewer focus on what is important…not the background.
You should try and make your background less distracting if it doesn’t lend to an interesting view.
Example: the photo above. I wanted the attention drawn to the beautiful flower not the dead looking bush it was growing on.
Please remember, these are just tips…gifts…really given to help you! This is what works for myself, but if you are not comfortable with any of the suggestions…then please don’t feel like you have to do them. We are all made to be different and no two people will see the world exactly the same, especially artists. Take what you feel comfortable to grow and get out of your comfort zone and leave the rest alone.
Do you know I have taken SO many educational courses in my lifetime. But have probably only applied 1/3 of what I have been taught! I print all tips and classes out to review and try when I am ready to do so at a later time in life.
Thank you for joining us today! Do you know how much we appreciate YOU?
Go confidently in your dreams today!
PS…if you have time today…check out these other two posts…I think you will love them.
All of these posts, I have used Kim Klassens textures.
If you are a first or second time visitor here, please join the Pride in Photos Family. Here you will receive tips, inspiration and a smile in your email everytime we create a post.

Ohhhhhhh, so that means I have to take it off of AUTO…. LOL Well, one day I’ll learn all that cool stuff, but it won’t be anytime soon! I do love the hits though so I can save them for when I have time.. 😀
Lovely bloom and yes, use of aperture aids greatly in the capture we create… Thank you for sharing on Weekly Top Shot #71!
Your pictures are so beautiful. I have a lot to learn about photography, thanks for the tips.

Just what I need to hear…now to keep the confidence part.
A very artistic photo — you succeeded in highlighting the flower!
A floral picture always brightens my day – Thank You! 🙂
I do love that quote and your image is so beautifully done, gorgeous! 🙂
pretty flower, not doubt. I think it speaks feminine.
Such a pretty flower. The texture you used looks so pretty.. I just love Thoreau. Thanks for the Info on him. So interesting.
Hugs~
Such a lovely, uplifting post. Thank you. 🙂 Abigail x
I’ve read thoughts like this before and I’ve always been confused by it. If I lived my dreams, I would be so faraway from my children and grandchildren and I just can’t and won’t do it. They are so much more important to me than my dreams. And yet, I can’t help but feel I’m missing something. Yeah, I’m weird!
To follow one’s own path can be difficult, but if you’re able to remain true to what “pulls” you, it will always be worth it. Very inspirational, thoughtful post. Keep ’em coming.
I love Thoreau.. and your photos. You must be using Photoshop then? I’ve just finished a class and have bought the software and am totally in love with Kim Klassen’s textures!! It’s fun to find someone else who knows about them too. I can’t wait to try one! xx
Barbara, yes Kim is the best. You will learn so much from her concerning textures etc.

I really loved your photo and how you made it into a nice peice of artwork. I just took a fabulous camera course and this is one of my favourite and easier camera adjustments. Awesome.
Appreciate the tips and Thoreau is wonderful!
Thoreau, Emerson and Whitman all continually inspire me — more so than so many who are alive and writing now. They speak to my soul.
what a beautiful dream! thanx for your weekend flowers 🙂
Thanks for the tips Laurie. Great post! 🙂
