Dude…What’s For Dinner?
So when you ask the hubster…What’s for dinner? He returns with, “What would you like?” I reply, “Mashed Potatoes, Meatloaf and Corn on the Cob!” I receive a very big eye roll☺ “Seriously”…he says. “I am being serious,” I say. More eye rolls, sigh… He proceeds to the grocery store and returns home with these beauties.♥ You surely can’t complain when he is willing to cook…right? The man is trying to look out for our health…what can I say? He tells me how nutritious these are for us. So I decided to do some research on this vegetable called Asparagus.
Asparagus is low in calories and is very low in sodium. It is a good source of vitamin B6 calcium, magnesium and zinc, and a very good source of dietary fiber, protein, vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin E, vitamin K, thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, folic acid, iron, phosphorus, potassium, copper, manganese and selenium, as well as chromium, a trace mineral that enhances the ability of insulin to transport glucose from the bloodstream into cells. Who knew?
The hubster put them in this cute brandy sniffer…knowing it would look more appetizing to me. Boy…the man knows how to work it ladies!! I didn’t miss a beat…as soon as I saw this on the counter…I went and grabbed my camera. I decided not to waste a great photography moment. As I was focusing on the tips of this vegetable with the camera lens, I couldn’t get over the texture and color they portray!! They are actually pretty…well imagine that…I am excited about Asparagus…to photograph and to consume now!!
“Today and Always”…I made a promise…a better attitude with Asparagus☺
The question for you today is, “What is YOUR favorite vegetable?”
Are you willing to eat your veggies like good boys and girls as my husband would say?
So why isn’t ice cream good for us? Sigh…
Since we are at the topic of food and amazing eye candy…I HAVE to tell you about a new place to visit called Kin Community…oh my ladies and gents…this little gemstone is a gift to us all. I hope you agree! Go check them out….and let me know what you think of this gem.
Have a healthy day everyone!

That looks so crunchy, healthy and yummy!! Can u believe I wasn’t a fan of asparagus until this past summer!
We love asparagus! I’m not sure I have a favorite vegetable as I like them all ( with the exception of yams )Thank you for joining in the fun at the Thursday Favorite Things hop. Happy Monday wishes xo P.S. sorry I’m so late visiting 🙂
I LOVE asparagus…..must admit, I’ve gotten somewhat spoiled by having it growing in the garden in the spring! Those pictures are STUNNING!!!!!!
They are gorgeous and I love them… about the only veg I don’t like are turnips and rutabagas… I could easily be a vegetarian… Love your images! Thank you for sharing on Weekly Top Shot #55!
I love asparagus! My favorite way to cook them is on a baking sheet drizzled with olive oil and touch of salt and pepper. I pop them in the broiler for about 5 minutes and then they come out tasting perfect.
Oh! I love these photos and love that your husband put them in the brandy sniffer!! Asparagus is one of our favorites! We drizzle olive oil over it, add a little sea salt and grill it! Even my girls love it!
My fave veggie has got to be peas — but when asparagus is fresh from the garden it’s a close second!
Bear With Me…Lovely captures….we have asparagus in our garden so it is one of our favs♫ Broccoli seems to be my go-to veggie when I need to add a veggie to supper♪
Oh how I love asparagus!!!
I haven’t met a vegetable I don’t love! I love asparagus and yours are just gorgeous. I like to eat all the green ones and the brightly coloured ones especially. I adore beets and squash and red cabbage. Oh, you’re making me hungry.
Mmm..I love asparagus! And your photos turned out great!!

Ha…I love this, Laurie! And, those shots are gorgeous.
Thats funny about the eyerolling to the dinner request. Asparagus is pretty darn good if they are cooked right…I am not there yet. 🙂 I found you on Happy GO Lucky Blog Hop. Following you via email. Hope you will follow me back via GFC at http://onecreativeprocrastinatinggal.blogspot.com/
The asparagus looks beautiful!
I came over to check out your blog and the first thing I see is this gorgeous picture of…Asparagus? Seriously…who would have thought a vegetable could be beautiful?
It also cracked me up. Thanks for showing the beauty in simple things. 🙂

I love asparagus! My all time favorite may have to be roasted broccoli and cauliflower! Or baby carrots I eat those like they’re candy!
Thanks also for your kind words on my post about the hurricane. Means a lot.
I am a BIG veggie fan so picking a favourite is rather tricky. I do LOVE Asparagus but I also love green beans and peas… however a couple of my really favourites are Purple Sprouting Broccoli and Red Cabbage (which I braise with apples & raisins..mhhmm)

My husband loves asparagus. I tolerate them. 🙂
Beautiful asparagus! We planted some this year, and it did well but you’re not supposed to harvest any the first year. I can’t wait until next year though!
