Dude…What’s For Dinner?

So when you ask the hubster…What’s for dinner? He returns with, “What would you like?” I reply, “Mashed Potatoes, Meatloaf and Corn on the Cob!” I receive a very big eye roll☺ “Seriously”…he says. “I am being serious,” I say.  More eye rolls, sigh… He proceeds to the grocery store and returns home with these beauties.♥   You surely can’t complain when he is willing to cook…right? The man is trying to look out for our health…what can I say? He tells me how nutritious these are for us. So I decided to do some research on this vegetable called Asparagus.
Asparagus is low in calories and is very low in sodium. It is a good source of vitamin B6 calcium, magnesium and zinc, and a very good source of dietary fiber,  protein, vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin E, vitamin K, thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, folic acid,  iron, phosphorus, potassium, copper, manganese and selenium, as well as chromium, a trace mineral that enhances the ability of insulin to transport glucose from the bloodstream into cells. Who knew?
The hubster put them in this cute brandy sniffer…knowing it would look more appetizing to me. Boy…the man knows how to work it ladies!! I didn’t miss a beat…as soon as I saw this on the counter…I went and grabbed my camera. I decided not to waste a great photography moment. As I was focusing on the tips of this vegetable with the camera lens, I couldn’t get over the texture and color they portray!! They are actually pretty…well imagine that…I am excited about Asparagus…to photograph and to consume now!!

“Today and Always”…I made a promise…a better attitude with Asparagus☺

The question for you today is, “What is YOUR favorite vegetable?”

Are you willing to eat your veggies like good boys and girls as my husband would say?

So why isn’t ice cream good for us? Sigh…

Since we are at the topic of food and amazing eye candy…I HAVE to tell you about a new place to visit called Kin Community…oh my ladies and gents…this little gemstone is a gift to us all. I hope you agree! Go check them out….and let me know what you think of this gem.

  1. We love asparagus! I’m not sure I have a favorite vegetable as I like them all ( with the exception of yams )Thank you for joining in the fun at the Thursday Favorite Things hop. Happy Monday wishes xo P.S. sorry I’m so late visiting 🙂

  2. I love asparagus! My favorite way to cook them is on a baking sheet drizzled with olive oil and touch of salt and pepper. I pop them in the broiler for about 5 minutes and then they come out tasting perfect.

  3. Oh! I love these photos and love that your husband put them in the brandy sniffer!! Asparagus is one of our favorites! We drizzle olive oil over it, add a little sea salt and grill it! Even my girls love it!

  4. I haven’t met a vegetable I don’t love! I love asparagus and yours are just gorgeous. I like to eat all the green ones and the brightly coloured ones especially. I adore beets and squash and red cabbage. Oh, you’re making me hungry.

  5. I came over to check out your blog and the first thing I see is this gorgeous picture of…Asparagus? Seriously…who would have thought a vegetable could be beautiful?
It also cracked me up. Thanks for showing the beauty in simple things. 🙂
