Grass Is Always Greener…TWO-sday Random Post #7

Well you know the saying, “The grass is always greener on the other side.” This phrase came back to me as I was shooting this scene with Little Man. He was SO curious to touch, feel and find out what this green stuff was all about. But when it came off in his hand…the reaction on his face…eeeeeeew…what is this?? Of course, Grammie thought, IT WAS HILARIOUS. His mother and father…not so much. They were standing by…on guard in case it made it’s way to his mouth.

Other circumstances in ones life can seem more desirable than one’s own but in reality are often not. Until you get over there and realize it was weeds! It’s called “the grass is always greener” syndrome. We think someone else is having a better time elsewhere. We make ourselves miserable by constantly thinking about the unknown in an attempt to find happiness.
We lie awake at night torturing ourselves over what we should do next, wondering if we’re missing out on something big. We feel we’re wasting our lives if we’re not doing something more important. How do I know this? I have walked this walk for years unfortunately! It wasn’t until I turned 50 years old…did I stop and say ENOUGH!  I will feel blessed right where I am today!! No more looking back or focusing on things I don’t have anymore.
It only leads to a miserable existence and causes us to forget what’s most important—and that’s what’s happening right now. Is it always easy to do? NO!

So whenever you feel yourself losing focus and wondering about where you’ll be happy next, bring yourself back to the present, look at what you already have, look around you and enjoy the moments now.

For me…it became ALOT easier to cherish the present…when little man came into our life. I look into his soulful eyes…and realize I AM NOT MISSING A THING!

Surely…someone has been placed in your life to make you stop and see…it isn’t always greener on the other side. It is pretty green right here!

  1. Great post! Yeah, I know the saying well! I’m pretty good at realizing how much I have, though, and thank God every day! The grass is pretty green over here especially now that I have my little one! I would never want to be anywhere else!

  2. Everything you said is so true. I try not to think this way for that very reason. I’m afraid to see the other side because what I think may not be true. Your grandson is so handsome!!!

  3. That’s great that you’ve achieved peace with yourself and realize the grass isn’t always greener. I am still working on it and can fall into that trap sometimes. Your grandson is sooooo cute! Great photos!

  4. So so true!!! What a perfect message. You know- it’s when I am just happy & content with what I have that the opportunities & blessings just keep on coming. When I focus on the wrong things is when things start going down hill. So that is always my reminder to keep my happy thoughts.

  5. What a beautiful post. And such true words. It’s so easy to overlook the great things you have in your life, but little people do have a tendancy to put all those things in perspective.
Beautiful photos too. Thanks for linking up to See It Snap It Love It. X

Please share your thoughts...and thank you for the love!
